Phillip joined the practice back in 2004 after qualifying from Bristol University in 2003, having gained a BDS degree and special commendation for his endodontic (root canal treatment) final exam. Phil enjoys all aspects of general practice, but finds crown and bridge work the most satisfying. He enjoys attending courses designed to keep his knowledge up to date and feels it’s important to continue to learn throughout a dental professional’s career.
Outside of work, Phil enjoys running, cycling, going to the gym and socialising with friends and family.

Lauren qualified from Queens University Belfast in 2018. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and loves to get to know her patients, helping them feel comfortable and at ease throughout treatment. Lauren has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry, including Invisalign clear aligners for teeth straightening. She is a regular attender of restorative dentistry courses, ensuring she stays up to date with modern techniques and advances in patient care.
Alongside dentistry, Lauren has developed her expertise in facial aesthetics and is completing the Post Graduate Level 7 Diploma in Medical Aesthetics. This allows Lauren to provide facial rejuvenation to the highest standard through anti-wrinkle treatments, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and medical-grade skin care using safe techniques and premium products only. She loves the diversity of combing dentistry, Invisalign and facial aesthetics and how these treatments compliment one another to enhance both smiles and confidence.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys exploring the coast and countryside, socialising with friends and making regular trips home to visit her family in Northern Ireland.

After graduating from Liverpool University in 2018, Matt moved to the North East to undertake a 2-year long post-graduate programme known as General Professional Training.
In this programme he worked in a busy dental practice in Newcastle and also in Newcastle Dental Hospital. This varied programme gave Matt the opportunity to work with specialists in the fields of Paediatrics, Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, and Oral Medicine.
Away from dentistry Matt is a keen football player and plays both competitively and casually. Matt also enjoys socialising and meeting up with friends, either here in the North East or in his native West Yorkshire. Matt has a keen interest in languages and has been teaching himself Spanish & Portuguese for a number of years (with varying degrees of success!).

Adam qualified from Newcastle University in 2016, having obtained a BSc in biomedical sciences followed by his BDS degree.
Adam has so far enjoyed gaining experience in a broad range of dental settings from general practice as well as time as a prison dentist. He enjoys the variety of dental treatments general practice provides, but has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry. Specifically he is a registered quick straight teeth and Invisalign provider.
He enjoys attending courses designed to keep his knowledge up to date, and feels motivated to continue to develop throughout a dental professionals career. He enjoys running, cycling, and going to the cinema. Adam’s big passion is Newcastle United

Karla graduated from Newcastle University in 2003. Karla enjoys practice life and finds treating anxious patients and restoring people’s confidence in their smiles the most rewarding aspects of her job. This is what made her become qualified in providing short term orthodontics. She can straighten teeth with both the ‘Quick Straight Teeth’ and ‘Invisalign’ systems.
In addition to general dentistry, Karla also enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with other dentists. Since becoming a Northern Deanery approved trainer and has mentored two overseas dentists. Karla was also a clinical support manager, this involved supporting over 40 dentists and practices across the North East.

Scott qualified from Edinburgh Dental School in 1987and has since gained entry as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and has completed a Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry. Having passed his qualification in dental implantology from Cambridge several years ago Scott is able to use dental implants in a wide range of challenging situations.

Faye is one of the hygienists here at Atkinsons graduating from Newcastle University in 2005. In her early career, Faye worked as a staff hygienist at the dental hospital which involved caring for specialist patients. She then went on to graduate from Sunderland University after completing a Post Graduate Certificate in education and went on to begin a teaching career at Newcastle University Dental School where she worked for 10 years.
Faye loves her job which is to ensure people feel at ease during their hygiene visits and to motivate patients to perfect their brushing regime.
Faye’s home life is equally as busy raising 3 children with lots of hobbies and 2 wild dogs to run around after!

Ann is one of the hygienists here at Atkinsons where she has enjoyed working as part of a great team since 2021. Ann qualified in 1992 at RADC Aldershot whilst she was in the Royal Navy. Ann worked within the Royal Navy for 9.5 years at various locations across the UK as well as serving in Gibraltar for 2.5 years.
When Ann isn’t working, she loves spending time with her husband and teenage sons, going to the gym and socialising with friends.

Dave joined the practice in the Summer 2025 after qualifying as a Dental Nurse from the University of Portsmouth. Since, Dave has worked mostly alongside our dentists Adam and Karla putting his knowledge into action and become a great member of the team.
Outside of work, Dave likes spending time with friends and family, visiting the cinema regularly and travelling. Daves favorite location so far has been Malaga.
TRAINEE DENTAL NURSE
Olivia is our trainee dental nurse, joining the practice in the Summer 2025. Olivia enjoys learning more about the role each day and helping assist the dentists and putting the patients at ease. In the short time Olivia has worked with us she has become an asset to the practice and grown so much into her role.
Outside of work, Liv enjoys cooking, walking her dog Wilson and loves going on holiday.
PRACTICE MANAGER
I qualified as a dental nurse in 1996 then qualified in dental radiography in 2001. I have worked in dentistry for over 25 years and managed dental practices for 16 years. I love working with people and all aspects of dentistry. In my spare time I enjoy spending time walking, baking, and watching rugby with my little boy.
